SUMMARY:Special Needs Getaway 2026
DESCRIPTION:Special Needs Getaway 2026\nMarch 19-21 in Riley Lodge\nCelebrate the last few days of official winter (or early spring!) as you gather with friends old and new. This retreat is designed for persons (ages 18-65) with mild- to moderate-developmental disabilities needing minimal-to-no assistance with daily living skills. Enjoy outdoor and indoor winter/spring activities like singing\, worship\, crafts\, jigsaw puzzles\, talent show\, a cook “out” supper\, sledding\, making snow angels\, or perhaps getting your boots muddy! \nSky Lake is owned and operated by the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. We have been serving guests since 1947 and first developed our Special Needs program in the 1960s. We believe our natural surroundings at Sky Lake to be the handiwork of God and do our best to make the great outdoors accessible to all of our special needs campers\, at a pace that allows them to fully appreciate it—after all\, time at Sky Lake is vacation for many of our campers! \nThrough all that we do we strive to provide our friends with special needs with a time and place in which they can experience a supportive\, loving\, and safe Christian community that honors\, respects\, and promotes each individual’s personhood. Our caring volunteer program staff will make sure each participant has a great time! \nWe welcome participants regardless of gender\, race\, and religion\, but please note that we are unable to accommodate participants needing one-on-one care. Independent toileting and self-mobility skills are required as well. \nCOVID-19 PROTOCOLS\n\nWhile not strictly required\, we strongly recommend that all participants in this retreat be fully vaccinated against Covid-19\nParticipants should pack a mask for each day (just in case there is exposure)\nParticipants are welcome to wear a mask if that helps them have a more awesome experience\n\nLEADERSHIP\n\nCaroline Andrews & Kaitlyn Flannagan\, Deans (also the deans of Buddies Camp in the Summer)\nKathy Price\, RN\nSky Lake Volunteers\n\nLOCATION\n\nRiley Lodge on the East Shore at Sky Lake\n\nCHECK-IN TIME\n\n3:00-4:00 PM on Thursday\, March 19\n\nPICK-UP TIME\n\n1:00 PM on Saturday\, March 21\n\nCOST\n\n$340.00 per person (includes two nights lodging; six meals; snacks; & program fee)\n\nDownload the Special Needs Getaway Registration form today! \nPlease contact us if you have any questions.
