When was the last time you got to spend time at camp with your extended family?
If this sounds like fun, then you’ll love this opportunity to get to hang out with your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, siblings, and any other family members you invite along! The extended length of Intergenerational Camp ensures plenty of time to hike, swim, boat, make ice cream, sing around campfires, go on a family picnic, make a craft, expand your faith through study and worship, and more together as a family.

Labor Day Weekend traditionally signals the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Families, young, old, and in between, will enjoy this weekend retreat opportunity to relax, play, learn, and grow in faith. A variety of activities is combined with ample free time, so when you are not making a craft, enjoying the campfire sing-a-long, making ice cream, or going for a boat ride, you can sit back and toast a marshmallow, read a good book, or go for a hike.
Bring your own tent or camper and set up on one of twenty-five private campsites. Each campsite is located off the unpaved driveway that passes through the family campground. A handful of sites even come equipped with 110-Volt electricity hookups (hurry, these go quickly). Occupancy on each site is limited to six persons. An exception to this rule is granted for immediate families (parents and dependent children) comprised of more than six persons. Fire-rings and a picnic table are provided on each site, as campground guests cook their own food. Showering and toilet facilities are located in Caldwell Pavilion in the heart of the campground. The base fee includes a three-night stay and a small program fee. You may arrive any time on Friday and depart any time on Monday. Want to extend your weekend? Spend Thursday or Monday night for an additional fee.

The West Shore Cabins are the perfect choice for families looking for slightly more rustic accommodations than Riley Lodge, but aren’t too keen on spending a weekend in a tent. Each cabin has six bunk beds and one twin-size single bed. There are electric outlets and overhead lights in each cabin—so you don’t have to worry about fumbling around in the dark! Showering and toilet facilities are located in the West Shore Bathhouse, a short walk up the hill from the cabins. You may arrive any time after noon on Friday. Programming will end at noon on Monday.
West Shore Cabin (8/31-9/3): $105 per cabin

Read a book, knit, or even nap by the fireplace in Riley Lodge. Be inspired by your new prayer journal. Go home rejuvenated.

We have a long list of things that we absolutely love about camp here at Sky Lake, but at or near the top of our list is definitely the joy that comes from helping youth connect with one another. To help create and foster those connections beyond summer, we’re putting together a couple gatherings in autumn and spring. These S’more Time Gatherings are geared toward youth in grades 6-12 and are open to individual youth and youth groups alike. Best of all they’re free!
The S’more Time Gatherings of the 2018-2019 season will be held in (or around) Founders’ Lodge at Sky Lake on:
Sunday, October 21 from 2:00-4:30pm
Sunday, March TBD from 2:00-4:30pm
Each gathering will feature intentional get-acquainted activities, large-group activities, small-group discussions, worship, and of course s’mores! While not required, reservations are greatly appreciated (so we know how many people we need to plan for, how to get a hold of leaders in the event of inclement weather, etc.)
Q: Are the S’more Time Gatherings only open to Sky Lake campers?
A: Nope! We welcome youth whether they’ve been a long-time Sky Laker, attended camp somewhere else, or have never been to camp!
Q: Do you have to be United Methodist to attend?
A: Of course not! You’re welcome at Sky Lake regardless of what church you attend, what state you live in, or whether you actually like s’mores or not.
Q: I’m not part of a youth group, can I still attend?
A: Absolutely! We’ll connect you with a group for the gathering.
Q: I’m over the age of eighteen (18) and would love to volunteer to help with these gatherings. How do I go about doing that?
A: It’s simple: complete the volunteer interest form at: http://bit.ly/SmoreTimeVolunteer
A recent study found that young adults who remained in church long after high school graduation had one thing in common: at least five unrelated adults had spent quality time helping them develop their faith in their adolescence. This retreat is designed to help better equip the caregivers of youth (parents, grandparents, pastors, Sunday School teachers, youth group leaders, camp leaders, confirmation mentors, etc.) to think more intentionally about God, the Bible, and how to apply this knowledge in their unique ministry settings.

Sky Lake is owned and operated by the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. We have been serving guests since 1947 and first developed our Special Needs program in the 1960s. We believe our natural surroundings at Sky Lake to be the handiwork of God and do our best to make the great outdoors accessible to all of our special needs campers, at a pace that allows them to fully appreciate it—after all, time at Sky Lake is vacation for many of our campers!
Through all that we do we strive to provide our friends with special needs with a time and place in which they can experience a supportive, loving, and safe Christian community that honors, respects, and promotes each individual’s personhood. Our caring volunteer program staff will make sure each participant has a great time! A registered nurse will care for medical needs.
We welcome participants regardless of gender, race, and religion, but please note that we are unable to accommodate participants needing one-on-one care. Independent toileting and self-mobility skills are required as well.

ATTENTION PASTORS & CONFIRMATION LEADERS! Would you like to have your confirmands experience the connexionalism of The United Methodist Church first hand? Does your confirmation class have less than fifteen youth? Do you want to take your confirmands on a retreat, but worry about planning the whole thing yourself? If you answered “yes” to any question, then bring your confirmation class to Sky Lake this March!
Here’s how it works:
All clergy who choose to attend the confirmation retreat will work together with Matt Williams, Sky Lake Director, to plan the retreat. (We’ll meet via video chat at mutually agreed upon times.)
Each confirmation class must be accompanied by the pastor, who is committed to attending the entire retreat and two planning sessions. Depending on the size of your group, additional adults may be required.
Overnight accommodations will be in Riley Lodge. Space is limited to forty (40) youth and ten (10) adults, so register early.
